GUA MUSANG, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- Three Temiar Orang Asli students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Permai, Pos Pasik, have made their own mark in history by developing robotic technology for use in their traditional homes.

Twelve-year-olds Romzi Anjang and Siti Saleha Masri as well as Mekrenik Rabu, 11, successfully developed a robotic innovation to operate doors, lights, clothes drying areas and plant watering systems with their Dekatamiar project.

Their mentor, Ahmad Najmuddin Jaafar said Dekatamiar is set to participate in an international robotics competition next year.

He said the three students will represent Malaysia in the innovation category at the International Robot Olympiad 2024/2025 from Feb 16 to 21, 2025.

Dekatamiar means ‘Temiar Home,’ symbolising their ethnic heritage. The house is built using natural materials, with the roof made of nipah leaves and the walls adorned with kelarai weave,” he told reporters today.

Ahmad Najmuddin said preparations are in full swing to refine the robotic house model before taking it to the international competition.

“We have received an invitation letter from the International Robot Olympiad Committee to participate in the International Robot Olympiad in Busan, South Korea, on Feb 17 next year,” he said.
