Indonesia Secures US$8.5 Bln Investment From UK Firms During Prabowo’s Visit

JAKARTA, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has secured an investment commitment of US$8.5 billion from 19 leading British companies during his visit to the United Kingdom (UK).

The agreement, announced on Thursday following the CEO Roundtable Forum, underscores growing optimism about Indonesia’s economic prospects, with the country’s political stability and commitment to clean, efficient governance playing a key role in attracting foreign investment.

“We’ve just met with leaders from some of the biggest companies here, and they’ve committed US$8.5 billion in investments. This reflects their confidence in Indonesia’s economy,” said Prabowo in London, according to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat on Friday.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, who also attended the meeting at Lancaster House, said the CEOs are particularly interested in sectors such as energy transition, infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

The meeting was part of Prabowo’s official visit itinerary, which also included an audience with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, a luncheon hosted by UK Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, and a bilateral meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street.

Prabowo and his delegation arrived in London on Wednesday for the visit at the invitation of the UK government.

According to Prabowo, discussions with Prime Minister Keir Starmer focused on strengthening Indonesia-UK ties, with Starmer expressing keen interest in collaborating across sectors such as the economy, fisheries, education, healthcare, and defence.
