Flood: No Evacuation Of Victims In Sepang District, JBPM Monitoring Hotpots

29/11/2024 12:26 PM

SEPANG, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) continues to monitor several flood hotspot locations around Dengkil, Sepang and KLIA.

KLIA Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief, TpgB II Razif Mohmad Haris said his department received several calls this morning but no evacuations were carried out after an assessment was made.

"We received a report from Kampung Giching that the water was rising but after the fire department monitored it, there was no need to evacuate because the water was ankle deep.

"The rain has stopped and the water is also starting to subside. This reduces the risk of flooding. However, the fire department will continue to monitor and be on standby for any eventuality," he said when contacted here today.

Meanwhile, the operator of Riverview Homestay in Dengkil, Datuk Ja'apar Mansor said the situation in the area was still safe despite the rising water.

"There are currently no evacuations but it is quite worrying because the water is constantly rising due to continuous rain since yesterday. But the rain has started to ease and everything is being made easier," he said.

The heavy rain since yesterday has caused water to rise in several areas and several roads in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi-Kota Warisan had to be closed.
