PHM Targetting 50 Teams To Participate In Melaka Hockey League

MELAKA, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- The Melaka Hockey Association (PHM) is targeting 50 teams to participate in the Melaka Hockey League which will take place from Dec 29 until the end of February next year.

PHM president Datuk Rais Yasin said the tournament, which is being held again since 2018, will also be a platform to hone new talents besides offering total prize money of RM25,000.

"The participation of all teams in this competition is free of charge with various categories being contested, namely boys and girls under 12 years old, 15 years old and Open involving schools and club teams.

"After a long time this tournament had been stopped... The new association committee appointed this year has agreed to restart the Melaka Hockey League and we hope that all parties can support the event," he told reporters here today.

Earlier, he presided over the PHM committee meeting and witnessed the final of the President's Cup 4-Cornered Hockey Championship at the Bukit Serindit Hockey Stadium.

Commenting further, Rais said the PHM will also collaborate with the State Education Department to ensure that the sports program at the grassroots level is participated by the primary and secondary school hockey teams in Melaka

"A total of RM80,000 has been allocated for the overall cost of organising the Melaka Hockey League with all matches being held at the Bukit Serindit Hockey Stadium... Besides that, we will also work with the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) to ensure that it can be implemented successfully," he said.
