Pahang Has Potential To Develop Safari Park

02/12/2024 07:40 PM

KUANTAN, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- Pahang has the potential to develop the biggest safari park among ASEAN countries to attract domestic and foreign visitors, thus boosting the state's economic and tourism sectors.

Appointed assemblyman Datuk Wong Tat Chee said the 202.3-hectare forest area in Temerloh is a suitable site to develop the safari park, which will provide another added value to the district.

"I would like to propose the state government take a breakthrough step (with permission) to drive and spur tourism in the Temerloh district by developing a safari park. I believe this move can have a huge impact on local tourism activities.

"A safari park will not only attract domestic tourists, just like the Genting Highlands, but also draw millions of foreign travellers to Temerloh. With the tourist influx, there will be a need for four-star and five-star hotels,” he said.

He said this during the debate on Pahang's Budget 2025 at the State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.

Wong said that with the economic boom and infrastructure upgrading, in tandem with the wave of tourist arrivals through the safari park, Temerloh has the potential to be the second local authority to achieve city council status in the near future.

The sitting continues tomorrow.
