ALOR SETAR, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Kedah Barisan Nasional (BN) will hold a convention on Dec 14, aimed at strengthening cooperation among the component parties in the state.
Kedah UMNO chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said about 800 BN leaders from various levels would attend the convention, which was scheduled to be officiated by BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“We will discuss various issues at the convention, including matters that may have been overlooked. We will find ways to strengthen BN,” he told a press conference here today.
Meanwhile, Mahdzir said he was confident that the federal government would continue to assist Kedah, especially in coping with the aftermath of the floods, despite the critical stance often taken by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor towards the federal government.
Yesterday, Muhammad Sanusi expressed hope that the federal government would consider providing assistance to the state government following the floods in Kedah, which caused damage to various infrastructures.
