Shopee's 'Kempen Tani' Boosts Success Of Local Agroprenuers

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 26 Bernama) -- Shopee Malaysia's recently launched 'Kempen Tani' aims to  empower local farmers, agropreneurs and producers with the tools, training as well as resources needed to succeed in the digital economy, while seamlessly connecting buyers with direct access to their products.

Shopee in a statement said the campaign focuses on enhancing the agrofood product value chain, boost the income of food producers and encourage consumers to buy directly from local agropreneurs, fostering a more sustainable and inclusive future for the industry.

"The ‘Kempen Tani’ programme saw nearly 100 sellers attending workshops led by a certified ShopeeXpert trainer.

"Livestreams held during the event gave agropreneurs a platform to showcase their products to over 110,000 viewers nationwide, resulting in an impressive nine times increase in orders compared to an average day’s stream in November,” the statement reads.

Shopee shared one of their productive participant Nur Rahilla Mohamad Kamal who is the owner of Nanakamalbiz, a traditional snack business in Kota Tinggi, Johor, that has gained confidence to excel in the competitive digital market and future-proof that her business can reach a broader audience through the campaign.

In the same statement, Rahilla expressed that the potential of digital market has motivated her to transition from running an offline business to an online business, despite the challenges faced.

Separately, for Lai Nyuk Ling who runs a fruit business known as JK Biscuits in Bidor, Perak, the campaign has increased the demand of her bestselling guavas and dragon fruits all the way in Sabah and Sarawak.

"Participating in Shopee campaigns, including the 11.11 Sale, marked a turning point, earning her RM4,000 in revenue in just one day— a milestone that boosted her confidence in e-commerce.

"With ‘Kempen Tani’, sellers like Lai have gained insights and tools to elevate their businesses. Shopee Live, for instance, allowed her to showcase her fruit-packing process, creating trust and transparency with customers," the statement shared.

Besides that, founder of Corndog Anak Ramai in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Wan Muhamad Biruni Wan Jamaluddin became a prime example of how the campaign helps rural businesses to thrive in the digital economy.

The statement added, features Shopee Live, vouchers and Shopee's affiliates, has helped Wan Muhamad's business to reach urban households in Selangor, Johor and Kuala Lumpur. 

He expressed that the campaign has helped many entrepreneurs like him to create opportunities for their family and community.

Meanwhile, Head of Marketing and Business Intelligence at Shopee Malaysia Tan Ming Kit, in the statement described agropreneurs as the heart of Malaysia’s agricultural sector with inspiring resilience and innovation.

"Through ‘Kempen Tani’, Shopee aims to continue empowering more agropreneurs with tailored training programmes, innovative campaigns, and valuable incentives like Shopee Coins and vouchers to boost their online presence.

"This initiative not only creates opportunities for them to shine but also contributes to shaping a more sustainable and inclusive future for the industry. We have plans to introduce more targeted support and resources for agropreneurs in the coming months to further amplify their visibility and help them reach new milestones," he said.

Tan added that consumers can support local producers by purchasing their products through the ‘Kempen Tani’ Shopee microsite at the e-commerce platform’s website, to claim exclusive vouchers and enjoy greater savings.
