KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- South Korea’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Yeo Seung-bae, on Tuesday paid tribute to the victims of Jeju Air that crashed on Sunday while attempting to land at Muan International Airport, approximately 290 km southwest of the capital, Seoul.
The Korean Embassy in Malaysia posted a picture on its Facebook page of Yeo visiting the joint memorial altar set up at the K-Lounge of the Korean Association in Malaysia, here.
“On December 31 (Tuesday), Ambassador Yeo Seung-bae visited the joint memorial altar set up at the K-Lounge of the Korean Association in Malaysia to pay tribute to the victims of the Jeju Air plane crash,” the post read.
The joint condolence altar to mourn the victims of the Jeju Air disaster, set up by the Korean Society in Malaysia, will be open to the public at the Korean Society’s premises in Plaza Mont Kiara from Dec 31 to Jan 3.
The altar will be accessible daily from 10 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm, with visitors encouraged to observe a moment of silence, offer flowers, and sign a guestbook.
The ill-fated plane with 175 passengers – including 173 South Koreans and two Thais – as well as six flight attendants, crashed while attempting to land at Muan International Airport at 9.07 am local time on Sunday.
The crash claimed the lives of 179 of the 181 people on board.
