KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- Maxis continues to shape young future-ready talent and drive youth empowerment through partnerships with universities, including its latest collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), which collectively account for over 30,000 students.

In a statement today, the telco said the partnerships were formalised at two memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremonies recently hosted at Menara Maxis here and Maxis was represented by its Chief People and Transformation Officer Patrick Er.

Meanwhile, UMT was represented by its Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Zamri Ibrahim and Prof Dr Abdul Rasid Abdul Razzaq represented UTHM.

“Aimed at advancing learning, career readiness, and digital skills while strengthening industry-academia ties, the key areas of collaboration include knowledge sharing by Maxis leaders and experts to provide real-world insights,” the statement said.

Maxis said the collaboration also provides career opportunities through internship at Maxis and the Hotlink Campus Ambassador Programme, special university packages for students and staff, and E-sports on campus and other joint programmes to promote student development.

Meanwhile, Patrick Er was quoted in the statement as saying that as Malaysia’s leading integrated telco, the company looks forward to combining its industry expertise with the academic excellence of its university partners.

"Our ongoing engagement with universities underscores our commitment to provide young talent in Malaysia with unparalleled opportunities for growth and professional development,” he said.

Mohd Zamri noted that the UMT's partnership with Maxis will create valuable opportunities for both parties to leverage cutting-edge technology, expertise, and professional networks.

"I firmly believe that the collaborations will not only enhance UMT students' academic achievements but also provide valuable exposure to the real working world and potential career opportunities," he said.

Meanwhile, Abdul Rasid said as a technical university, the industry-academia collaboration with Maxis will play a key role in its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

"This partnership will help our students gain relevant skills, industry exposure, and a competitive edge in the evolving digital landscape," he said.

Maxis has supported several UMT programmes such as Program Jalinan Mesra Student Baru, UMT Liga Bola Hotlink Piala Timbalan Naib Canselor HEPA, ESG Global Young Leaders Summit and Anugerah Ikonsiswa.

Similarly while at UTHM, Maxis has supported the UTHM Convocation Festival and the Kad Prihatin Siswa initiative.
