Platform For Mutual Exchange Of Placements To Be Launched This Year – Dzulkefly

BANGI, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- The mutual exchange digital platform by the Ministry of Health (MOH) is expected to be implemented in the third or fourth quarter of this year, according to its minister, Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad.

He said this platform allows health workers within the same scheme to exchange their placements without the need for intervention from the Human Resources Division to reduce burnout among overworked staff.

However, he mentioned it is more realistic to launch the platform by the end of this year.

It was reported that MOH deputy secretary-general (finance) Norazman Ayob has targeted the launch of the platform by June 1.

“This is a new mechanism and we are discussing it intensely. Hopefully, we will be able to conclude with some findings. A platform for mutual exchange, of course, it has to be ‘like-for-like’, doctors with doctors. It cannot be doctors (swapping duty) with nurses.”

“So yes, we really want this to be given (a try) because this is for the welfare of our healthcare workers,” he said after attending the Shariacare: Pioneering Health with Shariah Values symposium here today.

Dzulkefly said discussions to create this platform began last year and aimed to introduce a system that can function efficiently without administrative intervention.

He was also optimistic that this platform could address issues such as burnout among healthcare workers who are stationed far from their homes.

“We need to take a multipronged approach, so among other things, we need to look at whether there is an acute shortage or maldistribution.

“The distribution needs to be corrected, what is said to be the metrics for hours, doctors should be giving what is expected. All of these have different settings and different needs and demands. We will look at all of this,” he added.
