Monitor Children's Activities During School Holidays - Dr Wan Azizah

GEORGE TOWN, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- Parents must closely monitor their children’s activities, especially during the school holidays, to prevent them from engaging in unproductive or harmful activities such as cyberbullying, said Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The Prime Minister’s wife expressed concern over the rising number of cyberbullying cases, some of which have tragically resulted in victims taking their own lives.

“This issue is critical and must be addressed before it spreads further,” she said during the Kasih Malaysia and Mutiara Women’s Organisation Ramah Mesra event and Back-to-School Programme with the children of Penang here today.

Dr Wan Azizah, who is also the chairperson of Kasih Malaysia, said that the organisation focuses on supporting the community in three main areas, namely mental health, cyberbullying and education.

As part of the programme, 300 primary school students from underprivileged backgrounds, including orphans identified by the Penang Social Welfare Department, received school bags, stationery and financial assistance.

Meanwhile, the wife of Penang Chief Minister and chairperson of the Mutiara Women’s Organisation Tan Lean Kee said the aid reflects the concern of both organisations for the future of the younger generation.

“We are all aware that quality education is a key driver in overcoming poverty, and success requires hard work, discipline and determination in facing all challenges,” she said.
