Communications Ministry Gathering Info On Flood Repair Applications - Fahmi

TUMPAT, Jan 20 (Bernama) -- The Communications Ministry is gathering detailed information on applications for the repair of homes and premises affected by the recent floods in Kelantan, said Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

He explained that the Information Department, through the MADANI Community, would act as an intermediary, helping flood victims obtain the latest updates on their applications, and the assistance announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We understand that many fishermen and flood victims are eagerly awaiting information on this matter. I have urged for the collection of data to be expedited,” he said.

Fahmi also mentioned that a total of 6,615 families in Tumpat were impacted by the floods in December, with some still residing in houses which were severely damaged and close to collapse.

He shared this in his speech at the Ihsan Komuniti MADANI programme in Kampung Baru Nelayan, today.

According to Fahmi, his ministry is not only present on-site to offer comfort to flood victims but also to provide vital assistance to members of the MADANI Community affected by the disaster.

“Assistance will also be extended to agencies under the Communications Ministry to ensure that their services continue without disruption," he added.

He also highlighted that the ministry had established the Skuad Ihsan MADANI on Dec 17, to ensure the swift delivery of various forms of aid to flood victims.

The squad, consisting of 529 dedicated volunteers, was actively involved in post-flood cleanup efforts.
