SHAH ALAM, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Restu and Nasyrul Quran successfully raised RM300,000 through a special fundraising campaign to provide food and medical aid for the Palestinian people.
Yayasan Restu deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the funds, collected last year, were used to procure food and medical supplies, which will be delivered in two containers this week.
"The food and medicine will be sent to the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza," he told a press conference after officiating the pre-launch of “Festival Antarabangsa Seni al-Quran Restu” here today.
Also present were Yayasan Restu executive chairman Datuk Abdul Latiff Mirasa, who is also Nasyrul Quran chief executive officer and Yayasan Restu chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Asyaharim Abdul Latiff.
Regarding the festival, which will be held for 10 days starting this Friday at Kompleks Seni Islam Antarabangsa Selangor, Ahmad, who is Deputy Works Minister, said he is targeting 30,000 visitors.
