KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Switzerland have agreed to establish the Malaysia-Swiss Nexus Programme through a secretariat based at the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS).

In a Facebook post today, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the agreement was reached during his meeting with Switzerland’s State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation Prof Dr Martina Hirayama.

The meeting took place while Zambry was attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 Annual Summit in Davos, Switzerland.

“We previously met last September in Bern, Switzerland. During this meeting, various matters were discussed, particularly follow-ups to issues raised in our initial meeting.

“We also agreed to explore more comprehensive exchange programmes, including those involving students, lecturers, and research collaborations between the two countries,” he said.

Zambry added that he also extended an invitation to Hirayama to visit Malaysia during its ASEAN 2025 Chairmanship to gain a closer look at the country’s universities and polytechnics for potential collaborations.
