ISTANBUL, Jan 23 (Bernama-AA) -- Real Madrid have become the first football club to generate €1 billion (US$1.04 billion) in revenue in a single season, according to the annual Deloitte Football Money League report released on Thursday, Anadolu Agency reported.
“Cumulatively, the Money League clubs in 2023/24 generated a record €11.2 billion, an increase of 6 per cent compared to the 2022/23 season, with record matchday, commercial, and broadcast revenues,” the report stated.
“In 2023/24, the average Money League club generated €560 million, comprised of €244 million (44 per cent) commercial revenue, €213 million (38 per cent) broadcast revenue, and €103 million (18 per cent) matchday revenue.”
Deloitte reported that Real Madrid, aided by the renovation of its Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, increased its ticket revenues by 103 per cent to €248 million. The club also earned €316 million from broadcast rights and €482 million from sponsorship agreements.
Having concluded last season with €831 million in revenue, Real Madrid surpassed the €1 billion mark this season, marking a 26 per cent increase.
According to the latest Deloitte Football Money League report, Manchester City ranked second with €838 million, while Paris Saint-Germain secured third place with €806 million in revenue.
