Econsave, MyCARE Implement Education, Psychology Programme For Students In Gaza

JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 26 (Bernama) -- Econsave Cash & Carry Sdn Bhd (Econsave)  in collaboration with Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE) conducted an education and psychological rehabilitation programme that benefited more than 300 students in Gaza, Palestine.

Econsave general manager Mas Imran Adam said the programme was carried out in a building that was used as a temporary school located near the Jabalia refugee camp, north of Gaza.

He said the project, conducted starting September last year,  involved a cost of RM65,000,  which was raised through the Gaza emergency fund launched by the company in October 2023 with a total fund collection of RM2 million. 

"This project includes school education and psychological programmes, which aim to, among others, prevent students in Gaza from falling behind in their studies due to the prolonged war.

"We also want to strengthen their spirits again, following the death of family and relatives," he told reporters in a press conference after handing over donations in conjunction with the Chinese New Year at Econsave Permas Jaya, here today.

He said this when asked about the Gaza emergency fund launched by Econsave.

Mas Imran said Econsave and MyCARE also supplied clean water to the people of Gaza through a solar energy project carried out in July last year at a cost of RM50,000.

He said the project was able to supply about 8,000 litres of clean water every day and benefit more than 4,000 residents.

"The distribution of the water supply includes to camps and schools that serve as temporary residences," he said. 

Meanwhile, Mas Imran said  30 underprivileged families were givenEconsave vouchers of RM200 each in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.
