KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 (Bernama) -- Datasonic Group Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary, Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd (DTSB), has received a 12-month extension from the Home Ministry to supply Malaysian passport chips to the Immigration Department.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing, the company said the extension was from Dec 1, 2024, to Nov 30, 2025, with an additional contract value of RM104.78 million.
Datasonic said this would be the fifth extension of the passport chip supply contract, which was originally awarded on Dec 15, 2015.
“The contract is expected to contribute positively towards the future earnings and net assets per share of Datasonic Group for the financial year ending March 31, 2025, and the financial year thereafter for the duration of the contract,” it added.
Meanwhile, Datasonic Group said in a separate statement that the contract was initially awarded on Dec 15, 2015, with a duration of five years or 12.5 million passport chips.
It added that the contract solidified its reputation as a leading player in the security identity market.
