KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- The car driver who hit Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Foundation in Accountancy (ACCA FIA) top scorer Aysar Zahran Saiful Alimin has been released on police bail after having his statement taken and spending a day in remand.

Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said in a statement today that the man, 27, tested negative for drugs and had no prior criminal record, adding that they were waiting reports from the Pusat Pemeriksaan Kenderaan Berkomputer (Puspakom) and the Department of Chemistry to complete their investigation into the crash.

Aysar Zahran, 20, was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a Perodua Alza that entered the opposing lane in a six-vehicle crash along Jalan Hulu Langat-Ampang at about 4.45 pm Sunday.

He was the top scorer in Malaysia and placed second in the FIA ACCA examinations for the Management Information 1 (MA1) paper in December 2023.

He was buried in Batu 16 Muslim Cemetery, Hulu Langat, yesterday.
