ASTANA ( Kazakhstan), Feb 4 (Bernama-TASS) -- Kazakhstan’s Transport Ministry is planning to release the early results of its probe into the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) flight crash near Aktau in the next few days, Russian News Agency (TASS) reported, citing Kazakh Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev.
"Work is at its final stage, and we expect to release a preliminary report on our website within days," he said at a news conference.
The experts need time to wrap up their "very laborious" work, Karabayev explained.
According to him, teams from Kazakhstan, Brazil, Russia and Azerbaijan are taking part in the work.
An AZAL Embraer 190 plane en route from the Azerbaijani capital of Baku to Russia’s Grozny in Chechnya made a crash landing near the Kazakh city of Aktau on December 25.
The aircraft was carrying five crew members and 62 passengers, including Russian, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, and Kyrgyz nationals. According to the most recent reports, 38 people, including seven Russians, lost their lives, while 29 others survived the crash.
Kazakhstan is conducting an investigation into the air crash. Astana earlier stated that it had also granted Russia and Azerbaijan access to materials from its investigation.
The flight recorders have been decoded in Brazil, where the crashed plane was manufactured.
