Suspension Of Second Heli Won't Disrupt ECRL Project - Loke

07/02/2025 06:51 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The suspension of operations for a second helicopter involved in maintenance work at the Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) project site in Bentong, Pahang, will not disrupt the East Coast Railway Link (ECRL) project, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Speaking to reporters today, he said ECRL work will continue, adding that suspensions are temporary in response to accidents.

As of last month, the ECRL project, which covers Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Selangor, had made overall progress of 78.5 per cent.

TNB suspended operations of the second helicopter following an incident in which a Bell 206L4 helicopter caught fire while landing for refuelling at Batu 9 in Jalan Lama Bentong-Kuala Lumpur yesterday morning.

An Indonesian engineer, Finsen Reskey Sembiring, 27, who was struck by the aircraft rotor blades perished in the incident; however, the pilot, a fellow countryman, survived.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia announced that the Air Accident Investigation Bureau will conduct further investigations of the incident under Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
