MOSCOW, Feb 12 (Bernama-RIA Novosti/Sputnik) -- Japanese companies Toyota Motor, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and SoftBank have banned the use of the Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot DeepSeek in their internal systems, reported Ria Novosti/Sputnik quoting a Kyodo news agency report on Wednesday.

"Toyota Motor has banned the use [of DeepSeek chatbot] due to information security concerns," the agency reported, citing the company’s statement.

Moreover, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries adheres to the policy of not using the chatbot, and SoftBank has restricted access to its internal network and prohibited downloading and use on company devices, the report said.

On January 20, Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek launched its first free chatbot, saying it was on par with OpenAI's costlier ChatGPT. At the end of January, the DeepSeek chatbot exceeded ChatGPT in the number of downloads on mobile application stores in several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, and China.

Meanwhile, a research team of the Wiz Research company said that it had discovered an open server belonging to DeepSeek that contained over a million records. Experts said that chat histories, secret keys, and other confidential information were found there.
