HDC Urges Halal Industry Players To Capitalise On 2025 Osaka World Expo Opportunities

PASIR SALAK, Feb 16 -- The Halal Development Corporation Bhd (HDC) is encouraging local halal industry players to participate in the upcoming World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, to seize substantial opportunities in the global halal market.

HDC chairman Khairul Azwan Harun said the six-month event, scheduled from April 13 to October 13, 2025, will serve as a valuable platform for expanding and tapping into the international market, which is valued at over USD 3 trillion.

"We are targeting over 2,000 halal industry players to join this expo and are still offering opportunities for others to get involved,” he told reporters at the closing ceremony of the Go Halal 'X-Pert' Pasir Salak: Basic Halal Food Handling Course at Pasir Salak Community College.

The expo will also see participation from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW).

Khairul Azwan also emphasised the growing demand for Malaysian halal food products, which are gaining popularity among both Muslim and non-Muslim consumers. 

"We aim to maintain Malaysia's position as the global leader in the halal industry. This expo will allow us to strengthen and expand the Malaysian halal brand," he added.

Furthermore, he hopes to attract more foreign investors to establish factories in Malaysia’s halal industrial parks, leveraging the country's halal certification.

HDC is in the final stages of selecting participating companies and industry players, with an official announcement expected from Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi soon, he added.
