KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 (Bernama) – Twilio, the customer engagement platform, has partnered with Singtel, Asia’s leading communications technology group, to offer businesses in Singapore a platform for secure, branded messaging directly to customers' mobile inboxes.
As consumer concerns around data privacy and security continue to rise, businesses worldwide need to establish trust with customers – and Rich Communications Services (RCS) Business Messaging has emerged as an avenue for brands to accomplish that.
According to Twilio’s 2024 Consumer Preferences report, nearly eight in 10 Singapore consumers (79 per cent) trust a brand more when its communication includes a verification badge, while seven in 10 (68 per cent) feel more confident receiving branded text messages from a company.
“RCS messaging offers an enhanced alternative to SMS and bridges the gap between traditional messaging and the interactive experiences offered by over-the-top channels. It provides the perfect solution to deliver interactive, dynamic communications while assuring customers of the sender’s identity.
“We are thrilled to partner with Singtel to empower businesses in Singapore to deliver exceptional customer experiences and foster trusted, meaningful relationships,” said Twilio Vice President (VP) of Communications in APJ, Robert Woolfrey in a statement.
Meanwhile, Singtel VP of Digitalisation, Products and Partnerships, Terence Lai said consumers in Singapore are increasingly looking for more engaging interactions, especially on their mobile devices.
“Our partnership with Twilio enables businesses in Singapore to tap on RCS messaging to deliver rich and interactive communications that can improve their engagement with their customers in new and exciting ways,” Lai added.
Twilio makes it easy for businesses to adopt RCS messaging by automatically upgrading short message service to RCS on supported devices and immediately testing by building branded profiles directly in the Twilio Console, with zero code changes.
Twilio handles the registration and onboarding process with international carriers, checks capabilities, and ensures that messages are delivered over SMS when RCS is unavailable. Additionally, businesses can gain valuable insights into customer engagement, such as RCS read receipts, through Twilio’s existing dashboards.
This marks the first time Twilio is offering RCS Business Messaging (RBM) in an Asian market. Twilio’s RBM solutions have already been adopted by businesses in countries such as the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Brazil, and the Singapore expansion underscores Twilio's commitment to providing interactive messaging capabilities to a global audience.
