JOHOR BAHRU, March 7 (Bernama) -- Over 20,000 fans attending the highly anticipated second-leg of the AFC Champions League Elite (ACL Elite) Round of 16 match between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Buriram United at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on March 11 will be treated to a special iftar meal, including bubur lambuk.
State Youth and Sports, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah said the initiative, in line with the wishes of the Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail, is set to offer visitors a taste of traditional cuisine in packs.
“We will be preparing 70 to 80 pots of bubur lambuk for over 20,000 people, along with dates, traditional kuih and mee kawah,” he told reporters yesterday.
With a capacity of 40,000 spectators, Sultan Ibrahim Stadium is fully equipped with modern amenities including prayer rooms, to cater to the needs of fans, he added.
Mohd Hairi said the clash with the Thai football club is expected to be a thrilling spectacle, with all tickets for the match already sold out.
“I encourage all Johorians and Malaysians to come out in full support, as JDT represents the country in the ACL Elite tournament,” Mohd Hairi added.
The first leg played on March 4 in Buriram, Thailand, ended in a goalless draw, leaving everything to play for in the return fixture.
