ARAU, March 11 (Bernama) -- The Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Beyond 2030 initiative calls for an inclusive discussion involving both current and former top management to reinforce the university’s position as a leading institution and address the challenges expected over the next 10 to 20 years.

In making this call, the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also the Chancellor of UniMAP, expressed his intention to participate in discussions to assess past and present achievements and outline the university’s future direction.

“I believe UniMAP must continue to thrive and have a clear direction through the UniMAP Beyond 2030 initiative. This initiative requires a comprehensive discussion involving both past and present top management to ensure the university’s continued progress.

“As someone who has been with UniMAP since its KUKUM (Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan Utara Malaysia) era, I am confident that the experience of the previous management serves as a valuable reference, while the new leadership will introduce fresh ideas in line with global changes,” he said when officiating the Iftar @ UniMAP pogramme at the university here today.

Also present was the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, the Pro-Chancellor of UniMAP.

State Secretary Datuk Rahimi Ismail, UniMAP Vice-Chancellor Datuk Dr Zaliman Sauli, and Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) Chief Executive Officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor were also present.

A total of 361 UniMAP students received a zakat donation of RM300 each from MAIPs during the ceremony.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said that key aspects requiring attention for this effort included UniMAP’s positions in The Higher Education (T.H.E) World University Rankings and The QS World University Rankings, along with key performance indicators that served as benchmarks for university excellence.

“Insya-Allah, this inclusive discussion will help ensure the effective implementation of academic strategies, research, internationalisation, and industry collaboration,” he said.
