SEREMBAN, June 18 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) are unlikely to fully utilise the maximum quota of 15 imported players allowed for next season's Super League campaign.
NSFC chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who is also Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, said the list of import players for the Hobin Jang Hobin squad, managed by head coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil, is still being finalised.
"We are still discussing the positions of the players to be selected. We simply can't afford to sign all 15 allowed. We will utilise both imported and senior players, but I am confident that the addition of many new players will bring new energy to our younger players.
"We want to give them (younger players) opportunities and space to contribute and, in turn, deliver good results for the team this season," he told reporters after chairing the weekly State Executive Council meeting here today.
The Malaysian Football League (MFL) announced that at the 13th Board of Directors Meeting for the 2021–2025 term, it was agreed that all clubs can register a maximum of 15 foreign players. Out of these, nine players can be included in the matchday squad, which includes substitutes and must consist of four unrestricted foreign players, one player from Asia, and two players from ASEAN countries.
Meanwhile, Aminuddin dismissed calls to replace the club's chief executive officer, Faliq Firdaus Muhammad Rom and urged everyone to allow him the space to continue with his team development agenda.
"I see him as a professional who wants to see the team progress in the national football scene. I fully support the steps he has taken," he said when asked about speculation calling for Faliq's removal following the team's underwhelming performance last season.
