SHAH ALAM, July 1 (Bernama) -- Selangor recorded a drop of 6.4 per cent or 27 cases in dengue fever during the 26th Epidemiological Week (ME26/2025), from the previous week.
State Public Health and Environment Committee chairman Jamaliah Jamaludin said, based on data obtained by the Selangor Health Department, only 398 dengue cases were recorded during the ME26/2025 (June 22 to 28).
"The cumulative dengue fever cases in Selangor recorded so far this year are 13,275 cases, a decrease of 65.9 per cent or 25,645 cases compared to the corresponding period last year, which was 38,920 cases.
"During the same period, the number of active outbreak localities also showed a decrease to 135, compared to 156 in ME 25/2025 - a decrease of 13.46 per cent," she said in a statement today.
Jamaliah said the three districts that still recorded a high number of active outbreak localities were Petaling with 57 cases, followed by Hulu Langat (34) and Klang (28), but all three districts recorded a drop compared to the previous week.
"Only six active outbreak localities were reported in Gombak, Kuala Selangor (5), Kuala Langat (4) and Hulu Selangor (1). No active outbreak localities were recorded in Sepang and Sabak Bernam," she said, adding that the positive trend was also shown through the reduction in dengue-related deaths.
She said only four deaths due to dengue were reported so far this year, compared to 12 cases during the corresponding period last year.
She attributed the positive trend to the implementation of continuous intervention and control measures by various parties, especially the State Health Department, local authorities, related agencies and the involvement of the local community.
Jamaliah, however, advised all parties not to be complacent and continue to actively carry out continuous preventive measures, increase community awareness, and ensure that every individual plays an active role in eradicating the spread of dengue.
