KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 (Bernama) -- Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) honorary president Tan Sri Hamidin Mohd Amin received the '’Jasamu Dikenang" Award at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) 2024 Sports Awards Ceremony held at UiTM Shah Alam last night.
FAM said the award was presented in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of Malaysian football, including efforts to empower the role of higher learning institutions within the national sports ecosystem.
“Hamidin, who is also a member of the FIFA Council, is regarded as a key figure in laying the solid foundation for the growth of the nation’s number one sport,” it said in a statement on Facebook today.
Hamidin served as FAM vice-president from 2010 to 2013 and reached the peak of his leadership journey when he was elected as FAM’s seventh president in 2018.
“Among Hamidin’s notable contributions was the recognition of UiTM as a Football Centre of Excellence in 2010, as well as his key role in establishing the KPT-UiTM-FAM National Football Academy.
“He also initiated the appointment of a university sports advisory panel and implemented various coaching courses, football management certification, and football development programmes at the higher education level through strategic cooperation between FAM and UiTM,” FAM said.
