SHAH ALAM, July 6 (Bernama) -- A total of 127 individuals from the Kota Anggerik state constituency, who performed the recently concluded haj pilgrimage, each received RM1,000 through the 1446H/2025 haj muassasah incentive, which was open for applications from April 22 to July 25.
Selangor Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi, who is also the Kota Anggerik assemblyman, said that the incentive was part of the state government’s ongoing efforts, through Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor), to assist first-time haj pilgrims.
“This initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden of first-time haj pilgrims, and this year, all eligible recipients will receive RM1,000, compared with RM500 in previous years.
“All recipients have been thoroughly screened and confirmed eligible, after submitting their applications at the Kota Anggerik state assemblyman's office since last April,” he told reporters after presenting the incentives to recipients at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque, here, today.
The Selangor government, through Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor), has allocated RM6 million for the haj muassasah incentive this year.
At the same time, Mohd Najwan announced that his office had also channelled community assistance, amounting to RM60,000, to 10 recipients, including individuals, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and residents' associations in the Kota Anggerik constituency, who are actively contributing to the local community.
“Most of the recipients are residents' associations that actively organise community activities, such as gotong-royong and welfare programmes. We hope that this assistance will encourage them to continue their efforts more effectively,” he said.
Meanwhile, one of the muassasah incentive recipients, Abu Hassan Darusman, 61, expressed his gratitude for the state government’s efforts to ease the financial burden of performing the haj, for himself and six other family members.
He said that the assistance would help cover his children's education expenses, as well as the cost of necessities over the next few months.
“The application was submitted by my son after we received a notification via WhatsApp a few months ago. Not long after, we were informed that it had been approved.
“All six of us were eligible to receive RM1,000 each, as we are registered voters in the Kota Anggerik constituency, except for my wife, who is registered in the Rantau constituency in Negeri Sembilan,” he said, when met by reporters.
