12,000 Flowering Plants Flown Into Labuan For Borneo Flora Festival

LABUAN, July 12 (Bernama) -- A total of 12,000 flowering plants, spanning 24 species, have been flown into Labuan ahead of the Borneo Flora Festival (BFF) 2025, adding vibrancy to the island in the lead-up to the much-anticipated event.

A spokesperson from Putrajaya Corporation said the plants, sourced from various parts of Peninsular Malaysia, are intended to enrich the diversity of floral displays and attract visitors with their unique beauty and variety.

The plants were transported in four special sorties by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), from the Subang Air Base to the Labuan Air Base on July 11.

The deliveries were carried out in phases, with the first batch arriving last week, followed by the second batch, which landed at approximately 10 am today.

The RMAF also delivered numerous equipment and support materials needed for the festival’s preparations.

BFF 2025 is a joint initiative by the Federal Territories Department, Labuan Corporation, Putrajaya Corporation and Kuala Lumpur City Hall. 

The five-day festival will be held from July 26 to 30 at the Labuan International Sea Sports Complex and is expected to draw visitors from across the region.

Adding prestige to the event, Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, is scheduled to officiate the opening ceremony on July 26. 

Beyond showcasing floral artistry, the festival aims to promote eco-tourism, sustainability, and strengthen collaboration among the three federal territories of Labuan, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya.
