13MP the Catalyst For Malaysia To Achieve MADANI Economy Aspirations -- Amir Hamzah

KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- The 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the Dewan Rakyat today is the catalyst for the country to achieve the MADANI Economy aspirations. 

Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the 13MP provides the right path for Malaysia to become a developed country, where the people will also be able to experience the benefits of development. 

“One of our MADANI Economy pillars is to reshape development to enhance the dignity of the people. 

“What we want is that the efforts (through the 13MP) will reach and be felt by the people, and I think that has been seen in what the Prime Minister has presented,” he said in a press conference after the tabling of the 13MP in the Dewan Rakyat today.

He said the 13MP tabling by the prime minister included many aspects that should be emphasised in rebuilding the economy, and the details of the 13MP will be discussed in the Dewan Rakyat later.

Following the country’s big aspirations, Amir Hamzah said the government must dare to take a leap and undertake an approach that is different from the norm.

“That is why we are taking an approach to stimulate and grow the economy, as well as find ways to expand the opportunities available in the country, so that the opportunities can be translated into better job prospects for our people in the future. 

“So, I think what is important is that we can digest the details from the 13MP, which will be debated soon,” he said.

The 13MP, which aims to drive sustainable growth based on value creation across all sectors, involves investments of RM611 billion over five years starting in 2026, of which RM430 billion is marked for the government’s development allocation.

He said the 13MP also focuses on artificial intelligence and an emphasis on the “Made by Malaysia” initiative to position the country as a globally competitive and high-income nation. 

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the development plan, which is a continuation of the MADANI Economy policy, aims to boost the country’s economic growth by raising the ceiling, improve the people’s standard of living by raising the floor, and strengthen service delivery towards good governance.
