PPZ-MAIWP, AmanahRaya Ink MoU To Promote Zakat Awareness

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amanah Raya Berhad (AmanahRaya) yesterday to raise public awareness about the importance of paying zakat.

The MoU signed at the PPZ-MAIWP headquarters also aims to strengthen the practice of wakaf (Islamic endowment) as an instrument of wellbeing for the Muslim ummah.

PPZ-MAIWP chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Hakim Amir Osman said the MoU marked a new chapter in efforts to expand the outreach of zakat and wakaf, reflecting the commitment of both parties in formulating strategies to deliver holistic and user-friendly services to the public.

"This strategic cooperation carries clear and significant objectives and goals, at the same time opening up opportunities for the clients of both parties to enjoy the benefits and services offered jointly," he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, AmanahRaya group managing director Ahmad Feizal Sulaiman Khan said the collaboration was a strategic partnership between the country’s zakat agency and estate management institution to pursue a shared vision of building a strong, sustainable and progressive Islamic economic ecosystem.

He said the MoU would facilitate various initiatives related to zakat and cash wakaf, including physical and online zakat and wakaf consultation services, the provision of mobile and digital zakat counters, as well as the offer of a Loyalty Card at Pusrawi Hospital for AmanahRaya clients who pay at least RM10,000 a year in zakat on assets.
