BUDI95: Touch ‘n Go Back-End To Support Fuel Subsidy App

SHAH ALAM, Sept 23 (Bernama) – Touch ‘n Go Digital will serve as the central back-end database for the government’s fuel subsidy applications under BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme, allowing motorists to verify eligibility and pay without repeatedly using their MyKad.

Treasury Secretary-General Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican said the system is designed to make transactions seamless for users who are more digitally inclined.

“Once you have the app, you can do the e-KYC (know your customer), which is a one-off. That will enable you to transact without physically using the MyKad,” he told reporters after a briefing here today.

He said the BUDI95 fuel subsidy initiative will go fully live on Sept 30, with several apps ready for use.

“At the moment, the ones already mentioned in the presentation are Touch ‘n Go Digital, Setel for Petronas and Caltex Go. We expect the Shell app to come on board within a month or so,” he added.

Johan said while individual oil companies provide their own apps — Setel for Petronas and Shell’s app —Touch ‘n Go Digital offers a cross-platform solution.

“Through the Touch ‘n Go app and its e-wallet, it doesn’t matter whether you go to Shell or Petronas, you can use it. That’s the methodology, so you don’t have to depend solely on the identification card,” he said, noting that the e-KYC process ensures users’ eligibility.

He said the move supports the government’s push for digital convenience and strengthens safeguards for targeted subsidies under the BUDI95 programme.
