JASIN, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- The National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), an initiative under the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), once again achieved success after being named the recipient of the Best Service Award at the MADANI Rakyat (PMR) 2025 Melaka programme held at Politeknik Merlimau here yesterday.
At the event officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the NADI booth featured drone displays, virtual reality (VR) experiences, robotics, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities through the Tiny Techies module, and AI-based heart health screenings — showcasing new innovations in a way the local community can easily understand.
MCMC, in a statement, said the programme continues NADI’s efforts to reach communities nationwide through the PMR series, which began in Tawau, Sabah, and expanded to eight other locations with various engaging activities for all age groups.
“Youths also participated actively in the Safe Internet Campaign (KIS) and the NADI MADANI eSports tournaments featuring Mobile Legends and e-Football.
“NADI Smart Services also drew attention with five key focuses — Entrepreneurship, Lifelong Learning, Self-Wellbeing, Awareness, and Government Initiatives, aimed at helping communities improve their digital and economic skills,” the statement read.
MCMC said throughout this year’s PMR series, more than 10,000 new members have registered with NADI, while over 15,000 visitors participated in interactive activities and exhibitions at the booth nationwide.
The achievement demonstrates the strong public response to MCMC’s continuous efforts through NADI to empower communities with digital skills, technological access and information, it added.
MCMC said it reflects strong public support for its efforts to empower digital communities and bridge the technology gap, and enhance the socio-economic well-being of Malaysians.
The prestigious award was presented by Mohd Zainuddin Mohd Noor, Strategic Programme Section Director of the Prime Minister’s Department’s Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU), to MCMC NADI Office Head Mohd Arif Adenan.
In a further milestone, the NADI initiative also received international recognition after winning the Capacity Building category at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025 in Geneva last July.
MCMC said the recognition highlighted NADI as a model for community information centres, with the Pulau Banggi centre in Sabah showcasing how rural populations can be empowered to stay connected in the digital era.
To date, there are 1,099 NADI centres nationwide with over 1.8 million members, in line with the 1 DUN 1 NADI aspiration aimed at expanding information access and strengthening digital empowerment in every constituency across Malaysia.
