FAMA Signs 10 MoUs With Key Partners To Strengthen National Food Supply Chain

25/10/2025 10:15 PM

GOPENG, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) inked 10 MoUs with strategic partners today to strengthen the national food supply chain and enhance the competitiveness of local agri-food products.

The signing ceremony, held at the Perak Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) in Gopeng, involved agreements with government agencies, government-linked companies (GLCs), universities, cooperatives, and key industry players in the agri-food sector.

Among the parties involved were KopieSatu Licensed Entrepreneurs, Grab, Amazon Web Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd (AWS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Nable (M) Sdn Bhd, RISDA Livestock Sdn Bhd, Atlas Pacific Corporation Sdn Bhd, CDC International Sdn Bhd, Golden Merchantile International Trading Corporation, and Petronas Lubricants International Sdn Bhd.

The historic event was witnessed by FAMA Chairman Aminuddin Zulkipli, Perak Rural Development, Plantations, Agriculture and Food Industry committee Chairman Datuk Zolkafly Harun, and FAMA Director-General Abdul Rashid Bahri, along with the agency's top management team.

Aminuddin said the collaboration is a vital platform for uniting the expertise of various stakeholders to enhance the national agri-food ecosystem, which faces challenges such as climate change, rising production costs, and global competition.

"These MoUs are not merely symbolic signatures on paper, but rather a manifestation of FAMA's and its partners' commitment to expand market reach and enhance the efficiency of the agri-food value chain," he told Bernama.

"It is important to remember that the world is changing rapidly, and the agri-food sector is no exception. FAMA must continue to evolve, from being a market management agency to becoming a strategic market development agency," he said.

Through these strategic partnerships, Aminuddin said FAMA aims to develop a data-and technology-driven market system to restructure the marketing ecosystem for agricultural products, making it more efficient and high-impact, and empowering entrepreneurs through training, guidance, and broader market access.

He added that the collaboration will open new market opportunities, enhance the competitiveness of local products, and strengthen Malaysia's agri-food sector in both domestic and international markets.

"FAMA acts as a coordinator, facilitator, and market enabler, connecting producers and consumers holistically from farm to market," he said.

Aminuddin said he is confident that FAMA will continue to lead national market strategies in line with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security’s (KPKM) aspiration to build a sustainable, resilient, and globally competitive agri-food sector.

"This MoU is part of our initiatives to keep FAMA at the forefront of agricultural marketing development and coordination, while also driving the overall growth of the nation's agri-food sector," he said.
