Kelantan Govt To Offer Free Online Tuition For SPM Candidates Next Year

10/11/2025 03:19 PM

KOTA BHARU, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan state government intends to implement the ‘E-Tuisyen Rakyat Sejahtera’ Kelantan, a free online tuition programme for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates, starting next year.

State Education, Higher Education, Green Technology, Digital, and Innovation Committee Chairman, Datuk Wan Roslan Wan Hamat, said the initiative is one of the state government's commitments to produce excellent SPM students.

He said that the state government has already started a trial run of the online tuition in collaboration with Telekom Malaysia, involving the participation of 1,896 students.

"Through the E-Tuisyen Rakyat Sejahtera Kelantan online, it will provide the format for answering the SPM examination, covering all subjects. The trial this year involves an allocation of nearly RM100,000.

"For next year, we intend to further expand this initiative by providing the best formats in collaboration with expert teachers to offer this online tuition for free to all SPM candidates throughout Kelantan," he said.

He said this when answering a supplementary question from Nor Asilah Mohamed Zin (PAS-Limbongan) regarding the financial cost and benefits of implementing the ‘E-Tuisyen Rakyat Sejahtera’ Kelantan at the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting in Kompleks Kota Darulnaim today.

Elaborating further, Wan Roslan said the state government aims to provide the tuition initiative for free following the successful implementation of the ‘Tuisyen Rakyat Sejahtera’ last year, which had a positive impact on student achievement in the SPM.

He noted that the tuition program last year focused on four core subjects with the participation of 1,495 students in 2024, involving an allocation of RM477,000.

"SPM results in Kelantan showed an improvement, reaching 95.99 percent in 2024 compared to 95.08 percent in 2023. Therefore, we are expanding this tuition initiative to involve 2,604 students this year.

"We also do not rule out the possibility of extending this tuition initiative to candidates for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM), and others in the future to help the involved students gain access to quality supplementary learning," he said.
