SEA Games: Malaysia Crush Philippines 18-0 In 5S Hockey

BANGKOK, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The national men’s five-a-side (5S) hockey squad sent an early warning in their mission to chase the SEA Games 2025 gold medal after thrashing the Philippines 18-0 in their second Group A match at the RTAF Hockey Stadium here today.

The squad guided by Wan Mohd Roslan Wan Abdul Rahman displayed total dominance from the first whistle, just hours after opening their campaign with a 4-2 win over Indonesia in the morning.

Malaysia appeared energised with four players scoring hat-tricks each, namely Mohamad Akhimullah Anuar Esook, Muhammad Abid Sufian Mat Ruslee, Muhammad Muhibuddin Moharam and Syarman Mat Tee.

The national team’s domination continued as Shafiq Ikhmal Daniel Suzaini, Mohamad Kamarulzaman Kamaruddin, Luqman Nul Hakim Ahmad Shukran and Muhammad Arif Syafie Ishak contributed six more goals, completing the emphatic victory.

Meanwhile, the national women’s squad also opened their campaign on a positive note after coming from behind to defeat Indonesia 5-3 in their Group A match today.

Wan Nur Syafiqah Syahirah Wan Nordin netted twice in the third and ninth minutes, followed by goals from Dian Nursyakira Najwa Al-Wadqa Nazeri (12’), Nor Adilah Abdul Malik (23’) and Hasya Syahida Saifuddin (27’).
