KANGAR, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- The Social Welfare Department (JKM) spent RM1.92 million to provide food at 24 temporary relief centres opened during the floods in Perlis at the end of last month.
Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said the floods on Nov 23 affected 8,058 victims, and RM515,000 was used to supply essential items to them.
He said the state government also allocated funds through the Disaster Relief Trust Account managed by the district administration division, with public donations also channelled into the account.
Addressing the state assembly sitting during question time here today, Mohd Shukri said the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) provided funds through the same trust account, with RM236,120 spent on flood operations and management in Perlis.
He said NADMA also allocated RM100,000 to the Civil Defence Force (APM) for flood operations, mainly to cover food and drink for responders, with RM97,230 spent during the recent floods.
