98 To Receive Awards, Medals In Conjunction With Selangor Sultan’s Birthday

SHAH ALAM, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- A total of 98 individuals will be conferred state awards, honours and medals in conjunction with the 80th birthday of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, tomorrow.

Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said of the total, one recipient would be awarded the Darjah Kerabat Selangor Yang Amat Dihormati (D.K.II), while two others would be conferred the First Class Order of the Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (S.P.M.S.) which carries the title of “Dato’ Seri” for men and “Datin Paduka Seri” for women.

He said three individuals would receive the First Class Order of the Dato’ Setia–Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (S.S.I.S.), which carries the title “Dato’ Setia” for men and “Datin Paduka Setia” for women, while 16 others would be awarded the Second Class Order of Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Selangor (D.P.M.S.), which carries the title of “Dato’” for men and “Datin Paduka” for women.

“A total of 17 individuals will be conferred the Second Class Order of the Dato’–Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (D.S.I.S.), which also carries the title “Dato’” for men and “Datin Paduka” for women,” he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Fadzli said Sultan Sharafuddin would also bestow the Ahli Kegemilangan Sukan Selangor (A.K.S.) award on one recipient.

Meanwhile, 10 individuals each will receive the Setia Mahkota Selangor (S.M.S.) and  Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (S.I.S.) awards.

In conjunction with the birthday celebration, Sultan Sharafuddin will also confer the Ahli Mahkota Selangor (A.M.S.) and the Ahli-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (A.I.S.) awards to 15 recipients each.

One individual will be awarded the Bintang Kecemerlangan Sukan Selangor, while seven others will be bestowed the Bintang Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (B.P.C.) medal.

Ahmad Fadzli said the state government received 2,449 nominations this year, of which 955 were for the state awards and honours, while 1,494 were for the state medals.

He said that all 98 individuals had passed three key screenings conducted by the Royal Malaysia Police (for security and crime), the Malaysian Department of Insolvency and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
