GEORGE TOWN, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- The Lin Xiang Xiong Art Gallery will hold its inaugural special exhibition, Picasso and Lin Xiang Xiong: A Dialogue Across Time, which is an exhibition that explores the universal theme of peace through the works of two visionary artists from different eras.

To be held from today until March 31, 2026, the exhibition brings together over 60 works by Pablo Picasso, including selected lithographs, photolithographs, posters, prints and silk-screen prints, along with over 300 paintings by Professor Lin Xiang Xiong.

The gallery's statement said Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, lived through two world wars: the Spanish Civil War and the early Cold War.

"His art serves as a powerful response to violence, human suffering and global efforts for security, far beyond personal expression, with Picasso's work functioning as a public voice against war, using recurring symbols such as doves, bouquets, and human faces to convey hope and dignity," according to the statement released today.

The statement said that Lin Xiang Xiong's works, spanning from the late 20th century to the present, reflect a world still grappling with ethnic conflict, regional wars, refugee crises and humanitarian challenges.

According to the statement, his emotionally charged works directly confront reality and urge viewers to recognise that peace remains an unfinished responsibility.

Meanwhile, Lin said that Picasso's selected works were never intended for private collectors and were created to be distributed within society and enter human life.

He said it embodies the spirit of 'Art for Peace' and that art is not just for viewing but a platform for social dialogue, and that the exhibition emphasises that peace is not a historical achievement but an ongoing global responsibility.

Visitors to the special exhibition will not only see valuable works of art, but can also engage with a growing visual archive of how peace has been imagined, communicated and shared across time.

"Choosing Picasso is not about artistic prestige, but about honouring his example of public responsibility in times of extreme conflict. Picasso chose to respond, consistently and powerfully, and this commitment forms the basis of the exhibition," Lin said in the same statement.
