Sultan Nazrin Attends State-level CNY Celebration

IPOH,  Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, today attended the state-level 2026 Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration held at the Indera Mulia Stadium here.

His Royal Highness today was accompanied by the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and the Raja Di Hilir Perak of Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah.

Sultan Nazrin arrived at the venue at about 3 pm and was welcomed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

During the event, His Royal Highness participated in the traditional yee sang tossing ritual, symbolising prosperity and good fortune ahead of the upcoming celebration by the Chinese community on Feb 17 and 18.

The Sultan then attended a luncheon enlivened by vibrant Chinese cultural performances, including a lion dance and a traditional Chinese orchestra.

At the event, Sultan Nazrin also presented angpau to children from several welfare homes.

Meanwhile, Saarani, in his speech, called on the people to move forward with greater urgency without leaving anyone behind, to strengthen their resolve without compromising unity, and to pursue progress without sacrificing harmony.

“We want inclusive growth, equitable opportunities and development that ensures every race and every community advances together in the spirit of shared progress,” he said, while extending Chinese New Year greetings to the Chinese community.

He expressed hope that the Year of the Horse would bring courage and wisdom, a focused determination, and enduring prosperity to all.
