KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 (Bernama) -- Suria KLCC is hosting a meaningful Hari Raya Aidilfitri campaign from Feb 27 to Apr 5, celebrating Malaysia’s cultural heritage through heritage-inspired installations, traditional performances and cultural activities across the KLCC Precinct.

Suria KLCC executive director and chief executive officer Francis Tan said the campaign, in collaboration with local brand Sofia Iman, aims to showcase the nation’s cultural identity, while also supporting the country’s tourism efforts.

“This Hari Raya, through our significant collaboration with Sofia Iman and the narrative of ‘Penjaga Warisan’, we are not merely showcasing heritage, we are safeguarding it.

“And as the nation celebrates Visit Malaysia 2026, we are proud to play our part in showcasing Malaysia’s cultural soul to a global audience, positioning the KLCC Precinct as a premier touchpoint for international visitors to experience the authenticity of our heritage,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Sofia Iman founder Faralina Abdul Wahab, said the partnership highlights the growing appreciation for modern interpretations of traditional textiles such as songket and batik.

“What we are showcasing today is the culmination of years of dedication, creativity and staying true to our cultural roots. This is an opportunity to present our story, honour our artisans and share Malaysian craftsmanship with a broader audience,” she said.

According to the group, the Centre Court and Esplanade KLCC have now been transformed into a picturesque bougainvillaea garden centred by traditional Malay gazebo structures, forming the focal point of Suria KLCC’s festive vision.

The display also features 1,710 metres of hand-stamped batik crafted by Sofia Iman, draped across the pavilions and surrounding decorative structures.

Visitors can also witness a live songket weaving demonstration by a master weaver from Terengganu, showcasing the traditional loom known as the kek and offering insight into the craftsmanship behind the heritage textile.

In a significant contribution to this year’s campaign, the fashion brand has exclusively curated a series of heritage touchpoints to connect visitors with the nation’s soul through daily traditional games, such as Congkak and Batu Seremban, including live Gamelan performances.

Other festive highlights include a curated photo backdrop for family memories, live Zapin dances, and interactive workshops such as Batik Painting, Raya Flower Arrangement and a Fragrance Pairing session by The Body Shop.

As part of the campaign, Suria KLCC has also launched a festive brand film titled ‘Penjaga Warisan’ (The Guardian of Heritage) that captures the delicate tension between the city’s rapid pace and the quiet traditions of Terengganu, following the thread between generations.

Meanwhile, the Suria KLCC Group is also organising similar festive campaigns at Alamanda Shopping Centre in Putrajaya and Mesra Mall in Terengganu.

At Alamanda, the Centre Court has been transformed into a floral-themed bougainvillaea garden with a traditional wakaf structure and illuminated pelita displays.

Weekend cultural activities include traditional dance performances, angklung and kuda kepang showcases, as well as arts and crafts sessions for children.

The mall will also host a charitable initiative involving children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amal Rukaiyah, including a Baju Raya shopping session, Duit Raya presentation and a communal breaking-of-fast meal.

In Terengganu, Mesra Mall’s Hari Raya celebration highlights East Coast heritage through collaborations with local artisans, where the festive installation features hand-drawn batik by Noor Arfa and songket from Marang Prison Songket Complex, alongside live batik canting and songket weaving workshops.

Shoppers at the malls will also be eligible for festive rewards, including shopping vouchers, Raya packets and exclusive gifts with qualifying purchases during the campaign period.
