Malaysia Joins Intertraffic Amsterdam To Boost Smart Mobility

10/03/2026 10:57 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will participate in the Intertraffic Amsterdam 2026 forum for the first time and is the only ASEAN country to be officially invited to join the prestigious event.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi will lead the Malaysian delegation to the forum on traffic technology, road infrastructure and smart mobility, being held at RAI Amsterdam from March 9 to 12.

Nanta, who has also been invited as a panellist at the summit session of the programme, said the maiden participation is an important recognition of Malaysia’s efforts to strengthen the development of smart mobility systems and more efficient and resilient infrastructure management.

“This platform provides Malaysia with the opportunity to explore the latest developments in traffic management technology, road safety and the implementation of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

“At the same time, it opens up opportunities for strategic collaboration with international partners to strengthen the country’s capabilities in developing smart mobility,” he said in a statement today.

He said efforts to strengthen smart infrastructure are in line with the aspirations of the ITS Action Plan 2025-2030 framework and the Malaysia MADANI framework, which emphasise sustainable, innovative development and the well-being of the people.

Also joining the national delegation are Public Works Department director-general Datuk Seri Roslan Ismail and Malaysian Highway Authority director-general Mohd Hadzmir Yusoff.

Intertraffic Amsterdam, organised biennially since 1972, is the most influential global platform in its field, attracting thousands of industry delegates, policymakers and technology providers from more than 100 countries.

According to the statement, several international ITS organisations and networks have expressed interest in holding bilateral meetings with Malaysia to explore opportunities for technological cooperation and the sharing of expertise.

Malaysia’s participation in Intertraffic Amsterdam also complements the ministry’s efforts to strengthen the domestic innovation ecosystem through strategic collaborations such as the MY-ASEAN Road and Traffic Technology Expo and the Malaysian Road Maintenance Convention.

Through this approach, Malaysia has the potential to play a more active role as a reference for smart mobility system development in the ASEAN region, in line with efforts to accelerate the country’s transformation agenda towards more modern and resilient infrastructure.
