KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 (Bernama) -- Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat), in collaboration with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), is organising the Ramadan Bazaar for the second year in nine strategic locations around the capital, reflecting its ongoing commitment to empowering local entrepreneurs and supporting Malaysia MADANI's inclusive economic agenda.
This initiative is also expanded to 10 other states, and will benefit over 2,000 entrepreneurs nationwide through cooperation with selected local authorities (PBT), making it one of the most extensive Ramadan Bazaar events organised by Islamic financial institutions in the country.
Bank Muamalat president and chief executive officer Datuk Khairul Kamarudin said the nationwide event reflects Bank Muamalat's role as a full-fledged Islamic financial institution that not only supports financing but also builds a comprehensive economic ecosystem for the people.
“As an Islamic financial institution, our responsibility goes beyond providing financial services. We play a role as a catalyst for inclusive, ethical, and benevolence-based economic development.
“The Ramadan Bazaar is not just a trading space but an important platform to empower small and micro entrepreneurs so that they can earn a dignified income. Through collaboration with DBKL and PBTs in several states, Bank Muamalat is committed to supporting the sustainable economic growth of the community, in line with the principles of Maqasid Shariah," he said in a statement.
He said the Bank Muamalat Ramadan Bazaar is not a seasonal business space but a platform for empowering small and micro entrepreneurs so that they can generate income in a dignified and sustainable manner.
In an effort to strengthen a more modern and secure trading experience, Bank Muamalat provides digital payment facilities through the QR Soundbox to the involved bazaar traders, enabling fast, secure and seamless cashless transactions.
The initiative aligns with the national payment digitisation agenda by Bank Negara Malaysia, thereby promoting the use of transparent and inclusive e-payments among small traders.
"In addition to digital payment facilities, Bank Muamalat also provides support in the form of basic facilities, including canopies, aprons, and hats to bazaar licence holders involved as an effort to reduce operational costs and enhance the professionalism of traders."
"The organisation of Bank Muamalats’s Ramadan Bazaar reflects a strong synergy between the public and private sectors in developing a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem, in line with the national leadership's aspiration to ensure economic growth that directly benefits the people," according to the statement.
