KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 (Bernama) -- PKR today rejected claims by PAS Ulama Council Information Chief Mohd Nor Hamzah alleging that the government has failed to formulate concrete plans to face the West Asia conflict.
PKR central leadership council member Amidi Abdul Manan described the claims as baseless and said that Mohd Nor had deliberately ignored measures taken by the government, including at the regional level.
He pointed out that the ASEAN Economic Ministers’ meeting yesterday had decided to optimise frameworks such as the ASEAN Power Grid and the Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline to ensure stable energy flows.
He said cost-saving measures implemented by the government, including the decision not to hold official Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house events, were also part of preparations for the long-term impact of the conflict.
“We are also awaiting the implementation of work-from-home measures currently being examined by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia to further strengthen efforts to reduce fossil fuel consumption.
“It is clear that today’s MADANI Government is a responsible administration committed to building national resilience in terms of the economy, society, governance and technology in facing an increasingly challenging and uncertain global situation,” he said in a statement today.
Amidi also questioned whether the opposition had taken any concrete steps for states it governed to advance their respective state economies.
