25,000 Chickens On Sale At RM5 Each In Masjid Tanah Parliamentary Constituency

ALOR GAJAH, March 19 (Bernama) -- A total of 25,000 fresh chickens were sold at RM5 each at Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency today in conjunction with the celebration of three years of the administration of Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh on March 31.

In a statement, the Media and Communications Unit of the Melaka Chief Minister's Office announced that the initiative is also aimed at helping the people, especially residents of Masjid Tanah constituency, prepare for Aidilfitri, as well as to ease the cost of living.

The statement said the chicken sales programme was held at the offices of the State Legislative Assembly Development and Coordination Committee (Japerun) of the five state constituencies under the Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency, namely Tanjung Bidara, Ayer Limau, Taboh Naning, Kuala Linggi and Lendu, starting from 8 am to 12 noon today.

"Each state constituency has prepared a sale of 5,000 chickens and it received an encouraging response from the public who came to get chicken supplies at special prices.

"To ensure fair distribution, each individual is limited to purchasing six chickens only," the statement said.

In addition, the Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme was also held at the Tanjung Bidara Japerun Office to give the people the opportunity to shop for various items for Hari Raya Aidilfitri preparations at cheaper prices.

In the same statement, Ab Rauf said the initiative was not just a sale but an ongoing effort by the state government to ensure that the people were not burdened when preparing for Aidilfitri.

He said the welfare of the people would continue to be the main focus of his administration in line with the Melaka Sayang Rakyat (MeSRa) concept which emphasises caring for the well-being of the people.

He said such efforts would continue to be strengthened from time to time to ensure that the benefits could be felt by more people of Melaka.

The statement added that in conjunction with the sales programme, other state constituencies, namely Pengkalan Batu, Paya Rumput, Telok Mas, Asahan and Pantai Kundor, were also offered chicken and meat sales at Rahmah prices.
