ARAU, April 8 (Bernama) -- In navigating increasingly complex changes, and a dynamic global environment affecting the nation, it presents an opportunity for Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) staff to further strengthen their roles and develop their capabilities.
The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said that he believes under any circumstances, the public sector must always be strengthened and modernised to remain agile, efficient, and trustworthy.
“In line with the measures announced to ensure the sustainability of the nation’s fuel supply, I call on UniMAP staff to remain committed to delivering the best service,” he said.
His Royal Highness, who is also the university’s chancellor, made these remarks at the Anugerah Seri Gemilang (ASG) 2025 award ceremony, held at Dewan Ilmu, UniMAP Pauh Putra Campus, here, today. Also in attendance was the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
At the ceremony, the Raja Muda of Perlis also launched UniMAP’s new tagline, ‘UniMAP: Universiti Premier Teknikal’ (UniMAP: Premier Technical University), which symbolises a new aspiration towards global excellence.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra also expressed hope that the work-from-home (WFH) approach, which will begin on April 15, will be based on trust, discipline, and quality work output.
He said the flexibility provided should be fully utilised in good faith, to enhance productivity and the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and not otherwise.
He added that staff who perform their duties well and with integrity should be given due recognition, while management must pay attention to staff welfare, talent development, and fair and equitable career advancement pathways.
“An excellent work culture must be built on professionalism, cooperation, and innovation. At the same time, racial harmony must be preserved, based on mutual respect and consensus. Avoid any issues which could affect unity, especially within the UniMAP community,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said the new UniMAP tagline reflects the institution’s maturity and rapid development, as one rooted in engineering and technology.
“At 25 years of age, UniMAP must continue adapting to changes in the higher education landscape, industry needs, and international competition, in order to achieve excellence at both the local and global levels,” he said.
He also expressed confidence that the rebranding will strengthen its academic and research reputation, expand visibility, and boost confidence among industry players and strategic partners, while attracting quality students from both within and abroad.
