N.Sembilan To Implement Two-Day WFH For Civil Servants From April 15 - Aminuddin

SEREMBAN, April 8 -- The Negeri Sembilan government will implement a work-from-home (WFH) arrangement for more than 3,000 state civil servants two days a week from April 15, in line with the Federal government’s announcement following the current situation in West Asia.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said civil servants with a commuting distance of more than eight kilometres one way from home to office are allowed to work from home on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, as determined by their respective heads of department. Physical attendance remains compulsory on Mondays and Fridays.

He said the arrangement covers all departments and agencies under the state administration, particularly in management and administrative sectors such as finance, administration and human resources.

“For operational sectors involving technical roles, including engineers, assistant engineers, village heads and enforcement officers, WFH will be implemented on a rotation basis to ensure at least 50 per cent of staff are on duty in the field or office on any working day,” he said after chairing the state executive council meeting at Wisma Negeri today.

Aminuddin said WFH approval for heads of departments and officers in the management and professional group is not automatic, and must be reviewed and approved by the state secretary.

He added that attendance will be monitored electronically via the SPOT-Me system or Google Live Location to ensure effective implementation.

“The arrangement will also be extended to local authorities (PBT) and state statutory bodies (BBN), subject to acceptance by the respective agencies,” he said.

He said eligible civil servants are given the flexibility to opt for WFH or continue working fully from the office, adding that the arrangement may be withdrawn at any time if work quality is not maintained.

He said the policy does not apply to officers in critical sectors such as defence and security, healthcare, and education involving school sessions.
