KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 (Bernama) -- National development planning must shift towards a more innovative and dynamic model without relying solely on government allocations, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said that in facing an increasingly challenging global geopolitical and economic landscape, Malaysia can no longer depend on old approaches.

He said this was emphasised while chairing the 50th National Physical Planning Council (MPFN) meeting today, which also touched on the latest developments related to the conflict in West Asia.

“The meeting examined various aspects of national physical planning with an emphasis on balanced and sustainable growth, including efforts to strengthen the local economy and ensure more optimal and high-impact land use,” he said.

Anwar said the MADANI Government remains committed to improving the people’s quality of life through the provision of quality affordable housing, a more efficient mobility system, and the development of a comfortable and sustainable urban environment.

He also stressed that national physical development must be grounded in the well-being of the people, supported by structured planning and effective implementation.

“Insya-Allah, we will continue to drive Malaysia towards a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient future,” he said.
