ISTANBUL, April 10 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Kamal Kharrazi, the head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, died after suffering injuries from a United States (US)-Israeli strike that targeted his house on April 1, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported, citing Iran's state-run media.
Kharrazi had also served as Iranian foreign minister from 1997 to 2005.
His wife was killed in the attack on their home, the semi-official Fars News Agency reported.
Hostilities in the region escalated after the US and Israel on Feb 28 launched joint strikes on Iran which left thousands dead and wounded.
On Tuesday, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week truce aimed at paving the way for a final agreement to end the war.
